That was a wonderful story thank you. I'd actually started reading Amber's Enchantment, when I realised that this story was a prequel to that.
What an incisive look into the psychology behind the fine line between slavery and freedom.

Amber's harrowing experience in her own world, showed her slavery in its worst and most evil form.
So even having chosen to be taken to Destran to be a slave, she automatically feared the prospect, feared losing her status as a person.

I was willing her all the way to tell the truth about her memories, and was so relieved when she did, because at least it let her realise how much better things were for her now.

I wasn't expecting there to be more for her to overcome then, but it was fascinating to then watch her dealing
with the fact that benign as this slavery was, it was still a loss of freedom.
I can see how taking the willing slaves memories, would remove that conflict and
let them enjoy their chosen life in peace.
And how beautifully it ended. We see the slaves in Destran as basically a whole D/s culture, where the slaves/submissives, who are cherished and valued, have found their own sense of freedom in the life they've chosen.

Now I can enjoy Amber's Enchantment with the back story in mind.
