Chapter 1 by Hai Ning

I immigrated to this land.
I know I have returned home.
this land holds promises.
I believe in it firmly.

this land holds
VIPs, somebody, everybody,
and nobody as well.
I belong to the last category.

there are so many of us here -
held by this land of promises.
this land is our land.

that's why I am here,
and will stay here,
and will be buried here -
free, in this land
that holds nobody as well.
