I think the thing about this story is that I've enjoyed it so far and am impatient to read the next part. Also (and I know I may be frowned at for this) I found the part were Mandy was sttood legs apart in the vortex amazingly hot. Bring on the rest. (I'll give it an 8, I can't give it 10 because I 'm sure that it will get better as it progresses and I need some slack to boost the score)

Easy to see this happening and walk along with them.

i love how you've drawn me in to this ~ the vivid imagery and foreshadowing of what's to come...i can't wait to see what's in that backpack!
