This is one of the best BDSM stories I have ever read, and it is by far your best. It also is distinctive its use of an upper-class setting, like Lady Chatterly's Lover, whereas most BDSM stories are presented in lower-class settings or among the very young. I'm convinced that a lot of BDSM (and BDSM reading) goes on in the upper socioeconomic classes, but they are very discreet about it because they don't want what they see as the public stigma attached to it. So they go to considerable lengths to keep it out of the public view. You do very well in "Small Mercies" in presenting precisely this behind-the-scenes aspect of BDSM among the upper classes, and I urge you to write more stories that are set in these very discreet surroundings. I think there is a very significant opportunity here for you to make a name for yourself in this way.
